Cinematography: Guide to Visual Storytelling in 2025

So you want to make a movie.  Lets take you from script to screen with this introductory 3 day workshop. 

Intro to film - If you've ever thought about dabbling in filmmaking, this course serves as a brief introduction to the artform.  Learn the process of conceiving and writing a short film or commercial, get into pre-production budgeting and scheduling, produce the film hands-on with camera and lighting gear, and finally learn the process of post production and editing to deliver your vision. The class instructor has produced and directed nearly a dozen feature films, hundreds of hours of television shows, working in Los Angeles and New York for close to 15 years. 

The course will be divided into 3 hands on workshops utilizing the Veterans Art Center and 970West Studio.  You are expected to attend all 3.

Workshops will be on Saturdays:  January 17th, 24th, 31st, from 1 pm to 4pm

January 17th workshop, Preproduction will be held at the Veterans Art Center starting at 1 pm. followed by an orientation at 970West from 3 pm to 4:30 pm.

January 24th, Production, will be held at 970West Studio, 502 Ouray Ave, Grand Junction, CO 81501.

January 31st, Post Production, will be either at 970West, or the Veterans Art Center, or a combination of the 2, depending on participation.

Cameras, lighting, computers and software access will be available at the Veterans Art Center outside of class time.
