I have met many people here, whereas beforehand I had been pretty isolated. So far everyone has been quite friendly and supportive, and I am so grateful for the support and programs offered here. | I would love to participate more in the programs offered at the Arts Center, but everything is offered during weekday work hours. Would like to see a few programs offered for evenings or Saturdays. I was only able to attend 1 leather working class because I happened to be off that particular day. |

| Wonderfully curated craft and hobby supplies and equipment. I haven't had resources this good since my parents sold their flower shop. |
| It`s a good place to interact with other veterans and share things in common. I like learning to create with leather and beads and look forward to Tai Chi and cain fighting. |

| The Veteran's Art Center is one of the most loving, compassionate and honestly best places I have ever been in. They honestly see people as they are. They recognize individuals as normal people they do not define a person using labels lie disabilty or impairment, they always without fail put the person first. This is a quality that is rare and precious in this world. When I first went in there I was constantly apologizing and excusing myself this reflected I know a lack of self-esteem as well as confidence. Sometimes this world can really damage a person to the point of believing everything other people say about them they hear it so much that they believe they are clumsy, worthless and without value. As I have come there so often, I have begun to realize that the perceptions I have of myself are based on other peoples perceptions and their own reflection of thier shortcomings and ways they are lacking. Coming to find that I am a beautiful, worthwhile person at a late time in my life as been at times a deeply saddening experience understand that these things affected almost every relationship I have had with others and some were so damaging that people I loved left and never came back. But most of all, this beautiful and joyous reunion of my soul meeting up with my brain and who I really am. I think my life has been in many ways a great symphony. Beethoven wrote his famous Ode to Joy at one of the most painful and terrible times in his life, as they beleive now he died from lead poisoning extending over 10 years and he wrote this peice of timeless music that has survived over the centuries. A hymn of rage and redemption but most of all a love letter. My symphony of life has been a lot of rage, it has later been one of redemption I hope as I know I write my own Ode to Joy that the rest of the peice will be one of sweet sublimnal love a soul that at last bursts out with love that has been kept hidden for decades. I would have never found this or understood it if I had never walked through the doors in what I now believe is some type of magic closet, maybe like C.S. Lewis in the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. If I could I would live there like a hobbit and walk in the grass with bare feet and have half breakfast milk and cheese and be very very happy that I live in such a magical, sometimes curious but beautiful place. I hope it continues always and more people walk through the doors to find something truly wonderful about themselves and others too. You never can tell by the cover of a book what it is about. |

this organization does a wonderful job of helping people in so many diversified ways, and it is just the greatest blessing to have access to something of this nature. personally i am being helped by the healing arts sessions and cannot explain the depth of my gratitude for them, nor how much they have helped (and continue to help) me heal from so many things on so many levels. to me, this organization is a Godsend, and imagine it is that for all the others who have needed something that they can easily receive here. veterans need and deserve more places like this all over this country - they have more than 'earned' it. kudos, many times over, to people like the ones here who continue to help as many veterans (and their families) as possible. |
